NEW Schedule Buena Vista Muni day

7:00 First Bus Oak Hall

8:00 - 9:00 Bus and comp arrival, check-in in Buena Vista Ski area.

9:00 Check in 

10:00 Riders briefing for cross country at Start lin on the hill. 

10:00 - 11:00  Beginner cross country - Waves

11:00- 14:30 Uphill start   30Sec “heat” Start (stronger riders should go first)

*please use walking path to get down without disturbing the races.

12:30 -14:00 Beginner Downhill

Start at top of hill

*please use walking path to get up without disturbing the races.

3pm everybody finished and cleanup

Check in and food is at the chalet next to the parking and bus stop.

On 23rd (Muni Race Day) there will be burger, hotdogs, and vegetarian wraps at the Chatel

Bus shuttle Bemidji - Buena Vista

A shuttle bus will run continuously between Oak Hall and Buena Vista, beginning at 7am on race day 23rd. There is just one Bus going around and leaving approximately once every hour.

Plan generously, we don't know exact times of the bus.


Breakfast: A table will be located at the door by where the bus picks up. Anyone taking the early bus, that have the breakfast option will tell their ID#, grab their food choices (granola bar, fruit, drink, etc) and get on the bus.


Please come early, the bus can get full.

If you are done with your races please take the bus back early, because we need to bring all the helpers back with the last bus.

7 - 8 Volunteers and Beginner Cross Country Riders

9 - 10 Strong Uphill Riders

11 - 12 Downhill and Uphill


WALKING PATH

There is a separate Walking path (red line) to the top.  Please use it and do not walk or ride on trails during the races.


RACES

Requirements for all Races:

shoes, knee pads, gloves/wrist-guards and a helmet

No Restrictions on Unicycle


Cross Country (XC) Beginners (BLUE Line on map)

Check in at the Desk at the parking. Line up at the starting area on the hill for your wave.


Start: starts on time 10:00 with riders briefing.


We start in waves about 2 minutes apart.


Route Description:

It is a beautiful ride, slightly downhill passing by a pond… along the ride you can pick your favorite flowers or just enjoy them passing by. You can meet some wildlife like butterflies, birders, turkey or mosquitos on the way.


Attention: You might get muddy on the way.

Enjoy the views and don't forget it is a fun race.


If you do not finish … come to the Finish Line and Talk to the Finish line Volunteer. ALWAYS COME BACK and talk to the finish line manager!


We do one Lap that is approximately 2.2km (1.4 mi)

NO RUNNING.

UPHILL

Check in at the Desk at the parking. Line up at the starting area.

START: 11:00 - 15:00

We start in heats, one rider every 30 Seconds.

If you think you are a strong rider, be there early, others "as you show up"

There is one attempt.

You have to ride all the Uphill.


Route Description:

It is an exhausting uphill through grass  on a ski slope with some steep and hard sections.

When your ride the shortest possible way it is 532 m long. You might need to criss cross or hop to make it to the top.


Beginners might not finish the course because this course is to challenge the best. But feel free to give it a try and appreciate the finishers even more.

Finish

Riders must cross the finish line mounted on the unicycle, having both feet on the pedals.

Please us the walking path to get down. Don't walk on the race track.

Downhill Beginners

Check in at the Desk at the parking. Line up at the starting area on the hill for your turn.


Start: 12:00 -14:00  "as you show up"


Start is at the top of the hill. please use the walking path to get up.


Route Description

It is a fun ride along a ski slope. you have to do some route picking.

Practice your braking skills. you must not cross the yellow caution tape and avoid the hay.

The steepest section is in the end close to the finish line. You might remember this last part from the cross country.


Oh and don’t do anything dangerous on the track!


Enjoy the race, it is a fun race.
