Double Lake Loop Overview-
Course- The iconic course will circle lovely Lake Bemidji twice.
This scenic course will race around Lake Bemidji keeping the lake on the riders right. Riders will complete two full loops around the lake. The course will be raced on the Paul Bunyan State Trail for most of the course route. This course will pass through the City of Bemidji, Bemidji State University Campus, Lake Bemidji State Park, and other surrounding areas challenging riders abilities to cover distance, while providing riders a scenic look at the unique geography that is present in this region. The start and finish will be located at Nymore Beach Park near Sanford Center.
The course will transition from trail to roadways in several sections. The sections that are on the roadway will be open to regular motorized traffic. Riders must remain aware of the surrounding safety hazards during the entire race. The sections that traverse the road will require riders to closely follow the road staying as far “riders right” as possible. The most dangerous part of the course is between points 7&9 on the map at Highway US-71 Old at Birchmont Dr NE and exiting US-71 Old at Birchmont Beach Rd NE.
Riders will be awarded based on laps completed and overall time. Riders may NOT start lap 2 after 10:30 am. Times recorded with 2 complete laps will precede 1 lap race times in the finish time result.
